On October 16th, we were proud to host an Anti-Racism training, coordinated by our friends at the new
Lucy Stone Cooperative . The training was conducted in partnerships with the North American Students of Cooperation (NASCO), with Esteban and Tyrone as facilitators from
AORTA (Anti-Oppression Resource and Training Alliance).
The training was a success with over 25 friends from coops around the Boston area attending. We appreciated the opportunity to reflect on issues of racism and oppression and how we can be more aware in order to put into action processes and tools for communication, healing, and peace-building in cooperative communities.
Thanks to everyone who came out, to Esteban and Tyrone our facilitators, and to Lucy Stone for coordinating it all!

About:
Anti-Racism for Co-ops
This workshop blends popular education tools with history and analysis of anti-racist praxis. The facilitators tailor these themes to the particular opportunities and struggles of cooperative organizations. We frame co-operative and Unitarian Universalist principles within a Left social justice framework, emphasizing racial justice as a practice, offer examples of cooperative strategies for racial justice, and deepen participants’ commitment to and energy for racial justice work within the emerging local cooperative community.
