Full House

I got back from my trip to Weston to go over budget stuff at the old farm to an empty house. That was soon to change.

Vida arrived to sort out the stuff that her mother Margot who lived here in 06 has lodged in the guest room closet since she left for Argentina two years ago to start a farm. It turned out to be mostly empty boxes, go figure.

Then Nancy arrived with a truck half full of large houseplants that have turned the upstairs landing into a jungle. The other half was well packed and we made quite a few loads in and up to her new room.

Then the fire alarm went off. It’s been acting up a bit lately. Ratasha said “I was just drying my hair” before going to a voice class. Last weekend it went off apparently due to dust from power tools from the HEET energy saving barn-raising we hosted. Cambridge Ladder One arrived and again didn’t find any fire. Remind me to tell you about the writ of Colyers Mansion Syndrome we once got.

By this time I needed to take a break so I went upstairs to put in two hours on my novel. Coming along fine, thanks.

Dan wanted to know when we could play music so I said after dinner and got a burrito from last year’s harvest festival out of the freezer. Might have been a little dehydrated but was pleasant. We busted out the old Rise Up Singing and found a few things to collaborate on. His brother just moved to France so he has a new-t0-him guitar to play.

Laura H came down with her new RAT! I encouraged her to find another name for this rodent. Non-hopping mini rabbit? Wait, there’s the tail. Maybe in some other language there’s a cuter term for it. As it is cute. Manu and Laura B who are visiting from Italy were a bit shocked. Laura B actually retreated upstairs. She is Manu’s sister. Manu subletted a room during the summer a couple years ago while doing intellectual property rights research at Harv. Law. Dan and I kept playing.

Paul stopped in and forgot why he came downstairs. Moments later, after pawing through the done newspaper basket, he comes up with a scally cap that Paxton’s boyfriend misplaced during the Halloween rager on Sat night. We all hooted and hollered that the dear hat was found.

I was feeling like the beer and burrito weren’t mixing well so I finished watching Terry Pratchet’s “The Color of Magic” dvd which was cute, well designed but a bit too quirky. Not like my novel. But that’s another story.

More to come. Cheers.
